This is a truly remarkable story of a generous vegetable seller, Ms Chen Shu-chu from Taitung County in Taiwan, who is named by Forbes magazine as one of 48 outstanding philanthropists from the Asia-Pacific region. The Times magazine also selected her as one of the year's top 100 influential people under the "Heroes of Philanthropy" category. Despite her early set-backs in life she has donated very generously to various charitable causes, including helping schools, orphanages and poor children. Being a devoted Buddhist, she lives a simple life without luxuries. By living well within her means she's able to save lots of money to help others.
