Repin Ibrabhim and his wife, Khatija, flew in from Istanbul to London on Monday evening (11th October, 2010). They rested for a day and met up with Chow Fatt, their "London tour guide", on Wednesday and Thursday (13th and 14th Oct.).
These two gentlemen were old chums from way back in 1962 when they started schooling as little boys. C.F. was from Mill Road and Repin stayed in Semabok, a little Malay kampung (village) on the outskirt of Malacca Town in Malaysia.
C.F. took them on a sightseeing tour of London on the upper deck of a London double-decker bus. They were treated to sights of popular London landmarks from the City of London to Fulham Broadway.
These included Mansion House, Bank of England Museum, St. Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, Downing Street, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, King's Road and Chelsea Football Club.
They also visited Canary Wharf, the O2 Arena and also went to Stratford (the Olympics 2012 site). Unfortunately, there wasn't very much to see in Stratford at this stage because it's still a work in progress. However, they did see the Olympic Village which is still under construction.
Their "London tour guide" also took them for a walk along the River Thames and they visited the Shakespeare Globe Theatre, the ruins of Winchester Palace and also saw the Golden Hinde (Sir Francis Drake's reconstructed warship).
Shopping in London is also a compulsory activity, so what better shopping complex to visit than London Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd's Bush (West London).
The MHS66 reunion in London was a very happy one, with lots to eat, see and talk about.
