The Attractions of Regents Park London For Visitors Of All Ages
Regents Park, one of London's favourite parks covering 410 acres, was designed in 1811 by renowned architect John Nash.
There is a stunning rose garden, the largest outdoor sports area in London with facilities for football, softball and rugby, and a cricket pitch.
Regent's Park offers a wide variety of activities for visitors of all age groups.
It is also noted for the wildlife including wild bird species and waterfowl.
You'll find the following attractions in Regent’s Park:
- ZSL London Zoo, opened in 1828, is one of the oldest and best loved zoos in the world. It has about 750 species of animal from various parts of the world and is a great place to take your children and grandchildren for an outing.
- The Open Air Theatre, located in the heart of Regent's Park, is the oldest professional outdoor theatre in the UK. It is home to the New Shakespeare Company. It has a seating capacity of 1240 and is open during summer for about 3 - 4 months. Catching a show at Regents Park's Open Air Theatre is a great way to chill out on a hot summer's day.
- Memorial Bandstand, located near the boating lake, was erected in memory of the 7 Royal Green Jacket servicemen and 4 soldiers of the Blues and Royals who were killed by an IRA bomb explosion in July 1982.
- a boating lake is a stretch of water used for boating. During the warm summer months, this is a popular area of the park where you can hire deck chairs and enjoy the sun.

- The Avenue Gardens, beautifully landscapped with a wide variety of unusual plants, shrubs and trees to create a "garden within a park" feeling.
- Queen Mary's Rose Garden is London's largest and most stunning rose garden. It has an excellent collection of rose types arranged in a manner to blend in with its circular site.
- Outdoor sports facilities with over 40 pitches for various sports. Regents Park is scheduled to host the baseball and softball in the 2012 London Olympics.
